The Ford Kuga was launched in 2009 and since then it has enjoyed good sales. It is a direct alternative to the latest crop of crossovers and because it’s available in AWD, it’s suited to country areas too. To give the Kuga wider appeal, Ford has launched a new trim level for the Kuga which will sit at the top of the range. According to Ford, 80% of Kuga owners specify the top two trim levels, and so this latest version could so very well indeed.

It’s called Titanium X Sport.

So what’s unique to the Titanium X Sport model?

Standard equipment in Titanium X trim that makes its way over to Titanium X Sport includes leather upholstery, heated front seats, cruise control, dual-zone climate control, automatic headlights, DAB radio, Bluetooth, automatic wipers, and a panoramic roof.

Unique equipment in X Sport trim includes 19-inch alloy wheels, a sporty body kit, satellite navigation, self-parking, a rear-view camera, and privacy glass.

The X Sport is immediately noticeable from the Titanium X due to the new body kit. It gives the Kuga a really rugged look and the 19-inch alloy wheels offer the driver commanding road presence.

There are two engines available in the Ford Kuga Titanium X Sport – a 1.6-litre turbo EcoBoost and a 2.0-litre TDCi. Both are available in two power outputs which are 148 bhp and 179 bhp and 138 bhp and 161 bhp respectively. The lower powered versions of each engine come in FWD whilst the higher powered versions of each engine come with AWD.

The version I would go for, the 2.0-litre TDCI 163 AWD, will set you back £31,995 from Bristol Street Motors. This version should see you return upwards of 47 miles per gallon on a combined cycle. The petrol engines will, however, be faster in the real world, and the 179 bhp EcoBoost unit from the Fiesta ST would make an interesting power plant in a car like this.

An MOT Northampton click here will not be required for three years after the car is registered, but Ford’s like the Kuga have a great reliability record, with a 3-year / 60,000 mile warranty. Ford also offer an extended warranty to drivers who will exceed that mileage in the first few years of being on the road.

According to Ford around 80% of Kuga owners chose Titanium or Titanium X trim when buying, and so there’s definitely a place for an even better equipped version. At £28,595, though, this Kuga is very expensive when you consider you can get a Ford Focus ST for less which change to spare. However, if you are in the market for a car like the Kuga and want every single creature comfort imaginable, there’s no better choice than a Kuga in Titanium X Sport trim. This car will also have fantastic residuals.
