The 2013 Dodge Dart will be available in five trim levels: SE, SXT, Rallye, Limited and R/T. It will be built in the United States at Chrysler Group’s Belvidere Assembly Plant in Belvidere, Ill. Production of the 2013 Dodge Dart will begin in the second quarter of 2012.

Performance-inspired design

The all-new 2013 Dodge Dart boasts a timeless, stylish and distinctive exterior design. The car sports an athletic, sculpted, fluid and aesthetically agile appearance. The exterior design of the Dart conveys a level of visual drama and timeless surfaces that add excitement to the competitive compact sedan segment in the United States.

“The Dodge Dart was a dream to design,” said Joe Dehner, Head of Dodge Design — Chrysler Group LLC. “The Alfa Romeo-based architecture allowed us to design an exterior with great proportions that say ‘fun-to-drive’ when you look at it. Add in the Charger-inspired ‘racetrack’ taillamps, a new, sleek crosshair grille and piano black accents, and it all adds up to a performance-inspired design with just the right amount of attitude.”

The Fiat Group-based Compact U.S. Wide (CUS-wide) architecture’s low, wide and long dimensions ensured a stable “body-in, wheels-out” stance and coupe-like silhouette. The CUS-wide platform allowed for accentuating the fender formations and pushing the wheels as far out to the corners as possible, creating a very stable look, which gave Dodge designers incredible opportunities for some very dramatic sculpturing. Designers visually stretched the skin of the car over the vehicle framework as if stretching nylon over a surface.

“When designing the all-new Dodge Dart, we were inspired by classic, beautifully designed vehicles throughout time,” Dehner added. “Each car was beautiful, based on its surface work and presence alone; they didn’t need unnecessary cladding, jewelry or lines that confuse the eye.”

Once the basic design was in place, with dynamic lines and curves from every angle, designers inserted a little Dodge attitude into the mix. The face of the Dart was styled with the unmistakable Dodge split crosshair grille, but with a modern, sleek look that “floats” in the front fascia, giving the Dart a full-width mask that marks it as a Dodge.

The rear view of the all-new 2013 Dodge Dart features an available Charger-inspired “racetrack” full-width taillamp with 152 indirect glow LEDs, and class-exclusive dual exhausts mounted in the rear fascia.

The front of the 2013 Dodge Dart has been designed for smooth airflow around, above and below the car without compromising styling or engine cooling requirements. In addition, a lower radiator close-out panel is positioned below the front fascia. This not only contributes to the Dart’s lower front-end appearance, but also reduces drag while still allowing for an 8-inch curb clearance.

Dodge designers made attention to detail and precision craftsmanship a priority, and it is noticeable from every angle. Standard laser-braised roof welds, high-quality metal Daylight Opening (DLO) moldings painted piano black and standard projector headlamps are just a few examples of well-crafted features typically found on much more expensive classes of vehicles.

Tasteful, detailed accents add to the design of the Dodge Dart. Style lines on the hood lead the eye to the floating crosshair grille, while chrome accent spears below the projector headlamps and inboard of available projector fog lamps highlight the attention to detail.

The result is a compact sedan that blends exceptional proportions, “aero-dramatic” surfacing, world-class craftsmanship, modern technology, an exceptionally quiet cabin and an upscale feel in a package that is undeniably a Dodge.

Dodge designers focused on creating a modern blend of precision craftsmanship, state-of-the-art technology, exciting bursts of color and hand-sculpted shapes when designing the Dart’s interior, which is crafted with materials and technology typically found in more expensive vehicle segments. Starting with modern Dodge DNA and through the use of innovative ambient interior lighting, high-quality soft-touch materials and high-tech features, the 2013 Dodge Dart is loaded with cool amenities and unexpected delights for both drivers and passengers.

Three sophisticated, fuel-efficient and powerful engines The 2013 Dodge Dart will be powered by three fuel-efficient, powerful, state-of-the-art four-cylinder engines that add to Dart’s fun-to-drive quotient.

Drivers can select from a new 160 horsepower Tigershark 16-valve 2.0-liter engine, a 160 horsepower 16-valve 1.4-liter MultiAir® Intercooled Turbo engine and a new 184 horsepower Tigershark 16-valve 2.4-liter MultiAir 2 four-cylinder engine. These three engines, combined with three transmission choices — six-speed manual, six-speed automatic or six-speed dual dry clutch (DDCT) transmission — redefine performance by providing the most diverse powertrain lineup in its class.

The Dodge brand’s re-entry into the U.S. compact sedan segment is based off of the award-winning Alfa Romeo Giulietta. The body structure of the Dart is comprised of 68 percent high-strength steel – hot stamped, high-strength and ultra-high-strength – resulting in an architecture that is lightweight, modern and solid.

The 2013 Dodge Dart features the proven, lightweight MacPherson strut front suspension, specifically tuned to minimize camber loss, resulting in more responsive steering and handling characteristics, improved ride quality and a reduction in road noise – all qualities drivers will appreciate.

A bi-link independent rear suspension enables European handling capability for those drivers who love to lean into corners and the smooth ride North American drivers covet.

The all-new 2013 Dodge Dart compact sedan was designed and engineered for world-class aerodynamic performance. With more than 600 hours in the wind tunnel during the Dart’s development and using technology typically found on more expensive vehicles, Dodge engineers and designers looked at every aspect from the ground up to optimize the aerodynamic performance of the Dart.

The all-new 2013 Dodge Dart is the first Dodge vehicle to use an active grille shutter system. The system automatically stops airflow through the lower intake at highway speeds when less engine cooling is required and aerodynamic drag is most significant. When closed, the shutter system enhances aerodynamic performance by redirecting airflow around the front of the vehicle and down the sides, rather than through it. The active grille shutter system will open or close automatically based upon engine coolant temperature and vehicle speed.

Underbody panels run stem to stern on the Dodge Dart, covering the majority of the lower vehicle from the front fascia to the rear fascia. Constructed of mold-in-color (MIC) black composite, the panels both enhance the aerodynamic performance and also block road noise.

Tire spats located forward of the front and rear tires were engineered to function as mini air dams and were optimized for shape and ground clearance, adding to the underbody efficiency in conjunction with the underbody panels.

In the design and engineering of the 2013 Dodge Dart, no aerodynamic detail was too small. Mirror design, the notch angle at the top of the header of the backlight to the trailing edge of the decklid and even the tail lamp applique shape and rear corners were all designed and engineered for optimal aero performance. An integrated decklid spoiler incorporates a trailing edge shape for cleaner airflow separation in the rear portion of the vehicle, which optimizes the air wake.

Class-leading Safety Features

The all-new 2013 Dodge Dart was engineered with 60 safety and security features to ensure driver’s and passengers’ peace of mind when traveling. The Dodge Dart starts with a strong foundation, a body that has a high-strength steel content of 68 percent, one of the highest in the industry, and then adds both active and passive safety features. Driver and passenger safety features include 10 standard airbags, which is unsurpassed in the segment and include: dual-stage adaptive venting front driver and passenger air bags, front-seat-mounted driver and passenger pelvic and thorax air bags, two rear-seat-mounted pelvic air bags, front driver and passenger knee air bags and all-row side-curtain air bags. These features and more all work to protect passengers in the event of a crash. All three rear seat positions feature Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren (LATCH).

Об автомобиле

Dodge Dart — автомобиль построенный подразделением Dodge корпорации Chrysler в период с 1960-1976 года. Дарт позиционировался на автомобильном рынке в качестве дешевого и небольшого, но считающийся полноразмерным автомобилем в 1960-61 годах, среднеразмерным в 1962 году и компактным, до 1976 года.

1960–1961

Первый Дарт 1960 года строился как конкурент Plymouth в классе недорогих, но полноразмерных автомобилей. Dart имел меньшую колесную базу и имел схожую с Плимутом платформу. Автомобиль разделялся на классы, по степени комфорта: стандарт — Seneca, средний — Pioneer и высший — Phoenix. В качестве стандартного оборудования предлагался 225-й (3,7 л) двигатель, но который можно было с легкостью заменить на более мощные 318-й (5,2 л) и 361-й (5,9 л). Были так же доступны версии с двухкамерным и четырехкамерным карбюратором, с одним и двумя глушителями.

Dart завоевал известность моментально, и был очень популярен на рынке полноразмерных автомобилей, опережая Dodge Matador и Dodge Polara. Так же, с экономичным и неприхотливым 3,7 литровым двигателем модель хорошо себя зарекомендовала в качестве такси.

Dodge Dart 1961 Phoenix Cabrio

В 1961 году модель сохраняет прежние традиции, и даже колесная база в 2997 мм не претерпела изменений. Высшая модификация «Phoenix» теперь предлагалась только в кузове кабриолет, и оснащалась V8. С середины года, 225-й блок стал алюминиевым, а модификации с ним предлагали оборудованные трехступенчатой «механикой». Стиль кузова с задними «плавниками» и вогнутой решеткой радиатора «Virgil Exner’s» был очень популярен среди потребителей. Другие водители, которым доводилось ехать за 1961 Dodge Dart, часто жаловались, что маленькие низко расположенные габаритные огни просто были не заметны в пасмурную погоду. После чего, Додж уже с середины года оснащает модель дополнительными фонарями, за дополнительную плату, разумеется. И как результат — падение продаж почти на 46%, до 142000 единиц с 266700. Dodge стал занимать девятое по счету место на американском рынке, по сравнению с шестым в прошлом году.

Для 1962 года объемы выпуска полноразмерного Дарт на заводе были сокращены, в соответствии с постановлением главного менеджера Крайслер о сокращении выпуска полноразмерных автомобилей в пользу более конкурентоспособных среднеразмерных. В результате чего модели Dodge и его «извечного» конкурента Plymouth были существенно уменьшены в размерах, и теперь имели сравнительно короткую колесную базу в 2900 мм. Но дилеры вызвали недовольство, ведь в классе полноразмерных автомобилей теперь от Доджа не было ни одной модели. После чего, Dodge в поспешном порядке выпускает Dodge Custom 880, по сути являвшийся небольшим рестайлингом 1962 Chrysler Newport.

В своем новом классе, Dodge Dart теперь конкурировал с Ford Fairlane, как образцом для среднеразмерного класса автомобилем. Автомобиль имел неординарный запоминающийся дизайн, во многом благодаря одноплатформенным Plymouth Valiant и Dodge Lancer, позаимствовав у них некоторые элементы отделки кузова.

Торсионная подвеска, хорошо себя зарекомендовавшаяся еще с прошлых Дарт осталась, разве немного стала жестче. С середины года появляется новый 413-й Max Wedge двигатель (6,8 л), который был направлен в первую очередь для драг-рейсинга, где он быстро завоевал немалое уважение, поставив много рекордов. Автомобили, принимавшие участие в гонках серии NASCAR, имели модифицированные 413-е двигатели Max Wedge.

1963–1966

Dodge Dart моделей 1963-76 годов относился к классу больших компактов — так называемых «senior compacts». Машина была построена на «A»-платформе, разделяя её с более мелким Plymouth Valiant, Plymouth Barracuda сегмента pony-car и другими компактами Chrysler Corporation. Колесная база установилась на отметке 2819 мм, которая будет неизменной вплоть до 1976 года, исключением будут 1963-66 года универсалы с колесной базой 2692 мм и 1971-76 года «демон/спорт», имевший базу в 2743 мм.

Самым маленьким двигателем станет 170-й (2,8 л) мощностью 101 л/с (75 кВт), а доплатив всего $50 вы получили бы 225-й (3,7 л) 145 сильный (108 кВт) алюминиевый блок.

В 1964 году выпускают компактный и легкий 273-й (4,5 л) двигатель, мощностью в 180 л/с (130 кВт) с двухкарбюраторной системой питания. Этот же год станет последним для автоматической Torqueflite коробки передач.

В следующем, 1965 году выходит новая версия «Commando», сочетающая 273-й блок с четырехкамерным карбюратором, степенью сжатия 10.5:1 и более «злым» разпредвалом с усиленными толкателями. Мощность при такой конструкции возрастает до 235 л/с (175 кВт) и оснащается дисковыми тормозами с 14-дюймовыми колесами.

В 1966 году Dodge предлагает на рынок самую дорогую модификацию для Dart — Dart GT, известную больше как D-Dart. 273-й двигатель теперь имеет 275 л/с (205 кВт), что превышает 1 лошадиную силу с 1 кубического дециметра объема. Его оснащают еще более «злым» распредвалом, и меняю число главной передачи на 4.89:1, после чего с автомобиля снимается заводская 5-летняя (или 50000 миль пробега) гарантия.

Так же в 1966 году инструкцией SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) введены новые правила для гонок Trans-Am для двух классов: 2-литра и 5-литров. Что позволяло конкурировать с Dodge Darts, Plymouth Barracudas, Chevrolet Corvairs, Ford Mustangs и другими «тюнингованными автомобилями» с колесной базой до 2946 мм. Было разрешено снимать бампера, задние сидения и коврики, глушители могут быть заменены прямоточными, а шины могут быть заменены сликами. Из истории отличился гонщик Боб Туллия (Bob Tullius), выступавший в «Группе 44» под №4 на Dart GT 270 с 4-х камерной карбюраторной системой питания, выигрывает 24-х часовую гонку на выносливость «Marlboro Motor Raceway».

1967–1969

Появившийся в 1967 году «Дарт» получил новый, более современный кузов от дизайнера Элвуда Энджела (Elwood Engle), улучшенное рулевое управление и переработанный моторный отсек, приспособленный для установки более крупных двигателей. Чем вскоре и воспользовался производитель. Универсал был упразднен, теперь автомобиль был доступен только как двух или четырёхдверный седан, двудверный хардтоп или кабриолет, комплектация «170» теперь стала называться просто Dart, а комплектации «270» и «GT» остались неизменны. В таком виде автомобиль будет выпускаться до самого конца производства (в США/Канаде/Мексике — до 1976 года, в Южной Америке — до 1983), с незначительными фейслифтингами, заключающимися в некоторой переработке передка и кормы и изменениях в интерьере. Боковые стекла — впервые для компактного «Крайслера» — стали выпуклыми. Машина имела заднее стекло уникальной формы — вогнутое, но это решение себя не оправдало — в углублении накапливался снег, стекло бликовало, а толстые задние стойки крыши мешали обзорному виду.

Dodge Dart Drag 1969

С 1968 года стала доступна модификация GTS 340 с большим 340-м (5,6 л) двигателем в 275 л/с (202 кВт) или, как опция, уже вполне серьёзным 383-м (6,5 л) V8, а с 1969 года — даже 440-кубовым (7,2 л) мощностью более 400 л/с (294 кВт), но эти модификации оказались сложны в управлении — огромный двигатель не оставлял места для вакуумного усилителя тормозов и гидроусилителя руля, а без них ездить на машине было крайне тяжело, поэтому версии с большими двигателями (big-blocks) были популярны в основном у дрэг-рэйсеров. В конце 1968 года был прекращён выпуск двухдверного седана, который в следующем 1969 году был заменён хардтопом, теперь называемым Dart Swinger. В том же 1968 было выпущено очень ограниченное количество Hurst Hemi Dart с двигателем 426 HEMI от Dodge Charger, они были предназначены исключительно для дрэг-рэйсинга, отличались неудовлетворительной управляемостью, и езда по обычным дорогах на них была не желательна.

1970–1976

Dart пятого поколения появляется в новом, еще более компактном кузове. Пересмотренный дизайн сокращает багажник почти вдвое, по сравнению с 1969 годом. В клиновидной задней части располагаются прямоугольные фонари с такими же «угловатыми» бамперами. 14-дюймовые колеса стали стандартным оборудованием, а 170-й (2,8 л ) двигатель заменен большим 198-м (3,2 л ). Эти изменения улучшили приемистость и управляемость, а так же экономичность. В соответствии с новым законом по безопасности, светоотражатели были установлены на всех четырех углах.

Название Swinger была применено ко всем Дарт — двухдверным хардтопам, за исключением серии High-линии Custom. Чтоб избежать конкуренции с новыми Challenger, Dart стали оснащаться 340-м (5,6 л) блоком, мощностью 275 л/с (205 кВт) в качестве верхней линейки двигателей. Самой эффективной моделью был двухдверный хардтоп Swinger 340, отличавшийся ковшеобразным вырезом на капоте как у Super Bee.

Задние двойные фонари стал использовать Plymouth Valiant Scamp, а на Dodge Dart с 1972 года меньшие по размеру, но разделенных на четыре части, которые будут использоваться до 1973 года. Теперь двухдверный простой седан стал называться Swinger, а те, которые раньше назывались Swinger, приобрели новое название — Swinger Special. Dodge получает чертежи популярного фастбэка на основе Plymouth Duster, который должен был иметь имя «Beaver», но маркетологи Крайслера настаивают на более внушающем «Dart Demon», впоследствии заменяющий Swinger 340.

Внешность Дарт Демона была незабываема — большой воздухозаборник расположенный на черном капоте, и новые бампера отличали его как минимум от «прародителя». В салоне, на консоли располагался компактный AM/FM кассетный магнитофон в придачу с восьмью динамиками.

В 1973 году, чтобы соответствовать новому федеральному законодательству, автомобиль получил новые бампера повышенной энергоёмкости с массивными резиновыми накладками-клыками в виде опции, более крупные задние фонари и инерционные ремни безопасности. В следующем году появилась люксовая версия SE, имевшая автоматическую КПП TorqueFlite в стандартной комплектации, велюровый салон, отделку панели приборов «под дерево».

В 1975 году были добавлены каталитические нейтрализаторы выхлопа, с ними использовался только неэтилированный бензин. В последнем, 1976 году, дисковые тормоза на все колеса стали стандартным оборудованием, а рычаг ручного тормоза, располагавшийся до этого как подрулевой переключатель, перекочевал на его теперь обычное место — на торпедо, между передними сидениями. С конца весны 1976 года Dart был заменён новой моделью — Dodge Aspen/Plymouth Volare, которая показала себя не с лучшей стороны, и вскоре в 1980 году уступила место другим, «европеизированным» компактным автомобилям.
